This project is meant to show text can be interpreted in a visual sense, heavily relying on the surroundings and the atmosphere to portray the story. Whether the piece be a serious news article or a call to action on social justice, the narrative can be expressed both digitally and creatively in an easy-to-use manner. The point is that a lot of art is sometimes not taken as seriously as it could be because it is often associated with less important issues, and that can be damaging to the message. Art pieces can both be beautiful and important, and sometimes be beautiful and full of message, and so it was my desire to create something that portrayed that as such.
The process in which the project was made was both a piece of text built around a setting and also a setting set around a piece of text. The most constant aspect in the creative process is that the stories -- whether transpired from the background or the text -- were built around their own ideas and categories. The idea came from wanting to write about or discuss certain specific topics, and from there the projects started taking shape. In the case of most of the creative projects, the pieces started off as background images and ideas. In terms of the news and the social issues, the text was the most prominent feature in beginning the works.
The most used reference for the project was Bitsy itself and all the works derived from the platform. There was also some inspiration from past projects, like my own personal workshop presentation. Among others, I also looked at a few simple art blogs and works to base the menu off of. There was a lot of inspiration from the class, too, as many of the weekly homework assignments felt like they were leading me down this path. But for me, personally, Bitsy was the most fun platform to use as I do really enjoy being more visually creative and also I wanted the chance to make stories in more of a textual sense, where some of the other stuff we did like text generators, sound and keyboard assignments, and bots felt less controlled.
